Busy in the garden!

We spent a wonderful half an hour in the garden today, planting daffodils. Zara G and Edward showed us how to start digging and off we went. We also got to take home a leaflet about Windyridge nurseries in Dun Laoghaire with gives us a free bulb and pot 🙂 how exciting!

Take a look at us working hard.

Challenge Question- English

An apostrophe is used on two occasions, who can name these using the two words we discussed?

One starts with ‘c’

One starts with ‘p’

Also, an extra point if you can give me an example of each one using a super sentence.

Science- States of Matter

A series of facts compiled by Rory, good job!

A series of facts compiled by Rory, good job!

Today we learned all about the states of matter, which are?

Comment below with your answer.

We got to touch lots of different materials and describe them on our investigation worksheets, how exciting!

We learned that a certain state of matter is rigid and holds its shape The particles within this shape are also packed tightly together. An example would be a plastic bottle.

We learned that a certain state of matter is movable and one of us described it as ‘swishy’. The particles in this state of matter are loosely packed. Who can think of the name of this state of matter? An example would be water.

We also learned about another state of matter, in which the particles are very dispersed (a new word we learned). An example would be oxygen.

Can anyone remember what object was a ____, _____ and a ______?

Looking forward to reading your comments.

Our Perfect Poetry

Today, we created some poems as a response to the poem ‘The Wishing Flower’ by Gareth Lancaster.

Have a look at our poetry. Our task was to create a poem, based on wishing or getting a wish, with verses containing four lines and a rhyme every second line. It was a challenge for third class and we came up with some great poems. Thank you to Robyn, Gwen, Rory, Tadhg and a few others, who came up to The Author’s Chair to present their perfect poetry. I am looking forward to reading the rest tonight. Great job third class.

Robbie D did fantastic handwriting today, well done Robbie 🙂

Creative Writing with 3rd class

Well done to third class on their fantastic creative writing today. We are in the middle of our second drafts after completing a re-draft checklist. We are doing really well. Well done to Hayleigh, Ronin and a few others who came up to ‘The Author’s Chair’ to share their wonderful work. It was an exciting day in our classroom because it was our first day using our very own Author’s pencils.

We can’t wait to publish our work after it has been edited 🙂

Here’s some pictures of us doing our writing.

Hard at work. Rory used a story starter box to help him to pick a suitable opening sentence. We got a great one in the end.
